Sure it might be inconvenient to walk around a RoG world as Woodlegs but if you're just gathering resources and maybe making a trip to the ruins, then hopping back over to SW, his disadvantages are manageable and hardly a permanent crutch.īottom line is I don't think there's anything wrong with implementing characters that have an advantage/disadvantage set that's specific to one DLC. I think whichever map in which you decide to have your main base, you should have a character who can be most effective there. So if you are going to complain that certain characters don't do very well outside of their DLC, you also need to take into account the characters in the base game that have never done well in the DLC's. Webber is constantly under threat in the towns and Wigfrid can't eat any antihistamines during Lush season. Now take a look at the RoG characters who are almost entirely incapacitated in Hamlet. You can still last to late game with these characters, they just might not be the most viable candidates for switching to another map.

It's interesting that neither DLC has added a character with a damage modifier.īut honestly, I don't think that the new characters were ever intended to work outside the framework of the DLC's in which they were introduced. The Hamlet characters are ultra-specialized, and while they're cool in their own DLC, it's a big shame that the two new characters we got may not see a whole lot of action in the grand scheme of things. Literally the only upside to Wilba outside of Hamlet is being able to eat monster foods, while Warbucks has literally not a single upside outside of his own DLC. He loses 15 sanity every time he eats a non-Crockpot dish. Warbucks starts with a Ball Pein Hammer and a Magnifying Glass, uses less durability on Treasure Hunting Tab items, and regains sanity depending on how many Oincs he has. Normal and Guardian Pigs don't do anything special for her. She loses sanity quicker at dusk and night. Wilba can steal from cities without penalty, Civilized Pigs will occasionally give her basic resources, and she can eat "monster" food items without penalty. Meanwhile, let's look at the new Hamlet characters: I hope this is changed.), Warly is still Warly, and Wilbur is an outlier, being slightly better outside of SW, in my own opinion, due to the ability to run infinitely, never having to cross water and slow yourself. Hamlet's inclusion of water and abundance of wetness gives Walani at least some sort of use, Woodlegs can now negate his downside of being on land (though cannot craft the Sea Legs in Hamlet. The Hamlet characters now beat out the SW characters in regards to that title. Firstly, what I mean as SW-syndrome is a character being almost completely useless outside of their own DLC.
